Live Crime Map — Real-Time Police Incidents in 16+ Cities

CityAlert maps reported crime straight from official open-data portals in more than a dozen cities — police feeds for Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin, New York, New Orleans, Washington DC, Toronto, Raleigh, Halifax, London and Stockholm — and geocodes police media releases and local-news coverage where no public incident feed exists, including Vernon, Cabo San Lucas and Manila. Every incident is labelled with its source; media-derived locations are approximate to the block level.

Frequently asked questions

Is CityAlert's crime data complete or official?

In cities with official open-data feeds it comes directly from police data portals — but each has its own publication lag and reporting rules, and none captures unreported crime. In cities without a public feed (Vernon, Cabo San Lucas, Manila), incidents are geocoded from media and police releases and reflect only what is newsworthy.

How current is the crime map?

It depends on the portal: Seattle's 911 dispatch and NOPD calls-for-service are near-real-time; most Socrata and ArcGIS police feeds update every 15–60 minutes; Vancouver, London and NYC publish on slower cycles (6 hours to quarterly). Source and publication lag are noted per city.

Which cities have official police data on CityAlert?

Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin, New York City, New Orleans, Washington DC, Toronto, Raleigh, Halifax, London and Stockholm. Coverage elsewhere comes from geocoded media reports and community submissions.

Can I see historical crime trends?

Yes — Vancouver's VPD archive goes back to 2003, enabling year-over-year neighbourhood comparisons in the map's Trends tab. Other cities show recent-incident views rather than deep history.
